Zombies are still quite the popular subject when it comes to TV shows and video games, especially since it's so easy to come up with a half-decent plot involving the undead. However, video games have to keep the players engaged for longer periods of time, not to mention the fact that they also have to offer some new elements to distinguish themselves from the rest of the titles in the genre.
A sci-fi shooter with zombies and character customization
Dead Effect 2 is a first-person shooter in which zombies are included just to give you something to shoot at, but they are not the centerpiece of the plot. Instead, you have to deal with a variety of other creatures as well, including cyborgs, soldiers and a few mechanized monsters. It's quite the mess if you think about it for too long, so it's better if you just keep shooting and ignore everything else.
The most important factor gameplay-wise is that you can customize your character by choosing from a long list of special abilities. On top of that, you can also use body implants to make yourself even stronger. However, the equipment is what you'll be fighting for most of the time, because there are hundreds of weapons and accessories you can receive by completing missions and killing enemies.
Decent gameplay mechanics and nice graphics

In addition, the graphics are pretty nice as well, even if the level design can be a tad repetitive sometimes.
A neat way to waste some time and hunt for better gear
All in all, Dead Effect 2 won't impress hardcore FPS fans, but it might prove to be the perfect choice for less serious gamers. Hence, if you enjoy grinding for legendary gear and killing hundreds of zombies per minute, this could certainly keep you busy for a while.
